The Manor is a council owned venue but since 2005 has been run entirely by volunteers.

All money raised by Manor Road Gym Sports Club (charity number 1113245) goes towards the stated aim of ensuring continued and increased use of The Manor for a healthier and more active community.

The administrative company, MRG Ltd, is a non-profit-making company whose shareholders, like the charity's trustees, are volunteers from the local community. To see our constitution click here

Among The Manor's funders are:

These funders have helped in many ways. Eb4u contributed £97,000 for internal refurbishment, Kier carried out £2000 worth of painting and decorating, BT donated a PC, Awards For All support the girl's football team, and The Gannett Foundation, the Scarman Trust, Community Grants and Brighton University Students Union helped us fund activities and buy sports and art equipment.

We now have indoor and outdoor goals, badminton posts, basketball hoops, gym mats, table tennis and lots of gymnastics equipment.

We wish to thank all the following for their support:
McPhersons Walpole Harding Accountants
Aspect Asbestos (Bell Tower Industrial Estate)
Brighton and Hove Buses
Build Center, DRP Architects
Kinky Clothing (Bell Tower Industrial Estate)
BHA in the Community (and particularly Jacob Naish)
EBBS
The FA
Barclays
Nationwide
Cllrs. Warren Morgan, Gill Mitchell and Craig Turton
Coaches James Macdonald, Charlie Brown, Alan Morden and Ellie Hathaway.
Andy Smith who designed our website

and the following shops:
Pricewise, Videostar, Mulberry's, Fusion, Co-op, Pack of Cards, Dawson and Brooks, Pet Stop, Unwins (all on The Broadway), Brewers (Freshfield Industrial Estate), Pet Pals, Doggy Fashion, Booker.

Special thanks too, for their endless support, all the Bristol Estate dog walkers, particularly Iain Ramage, Paul and Vicky, Tanya's neighbours Rumy and Paola, and of course the committee's children and their friends for their fundraising and help.

Running the Manor is fun and rewarding and we are always looking for volunteers to join us, as coaches, cleaners, caretakers and much more. Sports volunteers give more than a billion hours of their time in Britain every year, and it seems a fair share of them have been given at The Manor since 2005!
